About this blog

Adventures of a Shivanaut was conceived in October 2008 as a way of allowing me to share my adventures in exploring Shiva Nata (also known as the Dance of Shiva) and connect with other Shivanauts to hear their stories.  The ulterior motive (there always is one, right?) was to encourage me to write out, and therefore more carefully think through, my experiences.

If you haven’t tried it yet, and want to know more, you can either visit the blog of the wonderful Havi, creator of the awesome word Shivanaut, or ask me a question if you’re intimidated about speaking to a World Expert!

About James the Shivanaut

Hi!  I’m James the Shivanaut, aka James the Dancing Geek.  The Dancing Geek thing is not just a weird name, it actually describes me pretty well.  I’m a dancer, currently performing with Chaos Dance Company, as well as being a bit of an astanga yoga and pilates fiend, but I also have a maths degree and love my laptop a little more than should be reasonable.  I could go on, but for that you’ll have to check out my personal blog.

As a Shivanaut, this particular combination serves me well because Shiva Nata could be described as ‘waving your arms around in pretty patterns’.  So I’m interested in finding out how my brain handles all of this and what epiphanies, if any, I have and in what form.  This blog is an exploration of that theme, with any extra added bits that get brought up along the way.  Interested?  Then jump in and start leaving me comments, write to me here or email me at james AT adventuresofashivanaut DOT com.
